About me
At your service
Hello, my name is Gavin Sharp (I'm the one with less hair)

I've been involved with boats and yachts for over 50 years.
Some would say 'boating is in your blood and I would have to agree!

Please see the very young speedboat skipper!

Messing around on the water has been a passion of mine for all of my life,
enabling me to gain invaluable hands-on experience. I have restored many
boats and have been able to advise and help friends with my marine knowledge and experience.

I am a fully qualified boat surveyor having gained my Diploma in Yacht & Small Craft Surveying at Ipswich, the only practical training course in the country.

I offer a range of marine surveys for all types of craft.
If you are considering buying a boat, I can help ensure your purchase is a good one.

I offer a very detailed and comprehensive pre-purchase survey that will give you
a true representation of the condition of the vessel that you intend to purchase, which will then give you the information that will let you make an informed
decision on whether to proceed with the purchase or to look for another vessel sometimes saving you thousands of pounds.

I am a member of the Marine Survey Associates formally the B.M.S.E -
(British Marine Surveyors Europe).
and proud to be an Associate Member of the IIMS
(International Institute of Marine Surveying).

I am fully insured, holding public indemnity and public liability cover.
I am very committed to offering a good, honest, reliable and fair service
with a very detailed survey condition report.

I want to supply you with the best factual report on your vessel and I only use
top-of-the-range testing equipment such as a Sovereign Quantum marine
moisture meter and the latest Tramex Skipper moisture meter to detect any high levels of moisture in the FRP laminate, colour snake cameras to get into unseen hidden locations, battery condition meters, electrical testing equipment, vernier gauges, Cygnus digital ultrasonic instrument for measuring metal
thickness (up to 20 mm) numerous lights & high definition cameras.
I will have the full report back to you via PDF version within 12 to 24 hrs so there
is not a frustrating wait for you to make that all-important decision.
After you have received a copy of the report and digested it fully, I will also
spend as much time as you like on the phone going over any areas of the vessel that were picked up on in the report. (not all surveyors offer this service as part
of the survey)

If you are looking for someone to supply you with an accurate report on
the condition of your vessel at a very reasonable price then look no further.
I am based in Leigh-on-Sea, in Essex, but I'm happy to travel to most
destinations, at cost.
